The Class
To become a good actor you study. To become a great actor you act.
This class will delve into acting through scene study and character development. You’ll get to perform scenes with a scene partner or partners. We’ll introduce you to various techniques and methods, encouraging you to develop your own. We’ll also discuss the essentials of acting, the lingo, and the different people you’ll meet on a set.
Week 1
The Table Read
Take One:
We will have a table read of each scene and then we will randomly select scene partners.
Take Two:
We will begin a script analysis of each scene and start developing the character.
Week 2
Tech Rehearsal
Take One:
We will continue breaking down the scene through the lens of various techniques and methods.
Take Two:
We wil begin rehearsing the scenes and contimue to build the characer, look at blocking the scene, and set design.
Week 3
The Abby Singer
Each group will perform their scene at least one time. The scenes will be taped, and critiqued with directors notes.
Week 4
The Martini
Final performance and taping. We will try to mimic the experience of being on an actual movie set. Each group's scene will be posted on the members-only page and available for download.
